My name is Angie VanValkenburg and I have been teaching physical education in Bourbon County since 2001. I graduated from Eastern KY University and got my masters from Georgetown College. I have been married since 1999 to my husband, Josh, and have two wonderful sons, Kevin and Kyle. I love sports and participate in many different activities throughout the year. My favorite sports include softball and basketball, but more recently I have taken up running. I really enjoy participating in local 5K and 10K races and have even done some triathlons. I have even completed a few half marathons. However, my biggest accomplishment came in July of 2012 when I completed my first half ironman! I am also a big baseball fan. Both of my boys play baseball and I spend most of my summers at the ball park watching them play. As for watching sports, my favorite teams are UK, San Francisco Giants and 49ers (my husband is from the bay area).
My goal is to get children to enjoy some type of physical activity that they can continue to participate in throughout their lifetime. I try to incorporate not only different sports, but also lifetime activities into my classroom in hopes that the children will discover some type of activity that they will want to continue to do. We have done many different things from frisbee golf to roller skating. I love teaching physical education and hope your child enjoys my class as well.
